In these recollections of old diggers, Private Ralph Scobie discusses the work of stretcher bearers (starts at 7:00), some great original footage, too.
The "Charlie" he mentions at 8:24 isn't our Charlie, though I certainly shed some tears on hearing this story. I looked up Ralph Scobie's war records to make sure.
